FFXIV: What is The Road To 60/Road To 70 Buff?

Road To 60 can be applied to certain servers of Final Fantasy XIV. Road To 60 activate would give new characters double the experience from all sources.

The Road To 60 buff was replaced by Road To 70 as of the writing. This works the same except for an additional ten levels. This is due to the increased level cap that was introduced with the expansion of Schattenbringers.

For MMOs, it is crucial to control the population.

Even though player distribution does not happen naturally, it must be shaped.

Final Fantasy XIV offers a lot of ways to encourage this and keep already crowded worlds filled up completely. It might not seem very efficient at the moment, but it is possible.

The influx of new players to XIV has been huge. Many of them are taking advantage of the free trial.

To funnel new players to less populated worlds, while keeping them away from the more populated ones, the game often designates servers as preferred. This is where the Road to 70 buffs comes in.

There are a few incentives for creating a character in FFXIV’s “Preferred World”.

This massive bonus of experience can be very attractive for new players. It cuts down on the time it takes to reach level 70.

How do I get the Road to 70 Buff?

It’s easy.

Create a new character in any world with the Road To 70 status. It will be visible clearly on the world selection screen.

All eligible characters will receive the buff automatically. You’ll also get a 100% experience bonus on any job your character takes up until level 70.

It is worth noting, however, that Road to 70 can be combined with other experience boosts.

This includes Rested Exp, which is a 50% increase for spending time in a sanctuary and any accessories that can be used to boost your experience.

For example, if you pre-purchase Endwalker, you will receive Menphina’s Earring. This item boosts your experience up to level 80.

That’s a huge 180% increase if you have Rested XP and Road to 70.

What is the life expectancy of The Buff?

Road To 70 is available until the world is no more preferred or until 90 days after character creation, whichever comes first.

Even if the Preferred status of your chosen world is lost a few weeks after you make your character, the buff will still be available for as long as you need.

90 days is quite a long time. You could probably get at least a few classes high in that time. It all depends on how much time you are willing to put in.

This is a significant boost and can be especially useful if you are also looking to obtain a few crafting/gathering jobs alongside combat jobs.

Is the Road to 60 Worth It?

You don’t know anyone, so if you’re just starting the game, it’s worth getting a Preferred World or Road To 70 buff.

It is important to remember that it does not increase your progress through the dense wall Main Scenario Quests.

No matter how fast you are, you will have to read the same story as everyone else.

Road To 70 offers a total absence of awkward downtime.

You will always be well ahead of the Main Scenario level requirements, so you won’t have to look elsewhere to improve your level.

A buff is still a good option if you prefer to take your time and enjoy the flowers (or pick them if you are a Botanist).

Road To 70 will allow you to find a few decent jobs.

If you are lucky enough to have friends that already play on worlds with Road To 70 active, you won’t be able to catch up faster if you don’t have the buff.

It is not easy to complete the Main Scenario Quests.

To get to Shadowbringers took me two months of daily play, and I was skipping most of the cutscenes.

Your level is not enough to unlock dungeons, trials and raids in XIV. These are tied to your progress through the story. They can also be unlocked by quests that you can’t complete unless you’re sufficiently far along with the story.

Road To 70 makes levelling a breeze, but it doesn’t unlock any content faster.

If you are looking to get to the endgame, then a Road To 70 server might not be as efficient as you would like.

Do I wait for my server to reach 70 before making a character?

I don’t like giving definitive answers to questions like this. Everyone is different. That buff may be very useful to many people.

In this instance, however, I would say no.

It’s impossible to predict when or if a world will ever get Preferred status.

You’re unlikely to get a Road To 70 buff in a world that’s often congested.

I have already mentioned a few reasons why you might not find the Road To 70 buff as helpful as you think when clearing the Main Scenario.

The truth is, you’d spend more time waiting for Road To 70 than by leveling the character.

This perk is a great one.

Is it worth waiting? No.
