The Conjuring Watch Order Guide

When people went to check out a house that might be haunted, it set off a series of strange things that led to the start of the famous Conjuring franchise.

Since the first Conjuring movie came out in 2013, the difficulties of fighting demons have only grown.

But these problems didn’t change how well Ed and Lorraine Warren got along or how much they loved their daughter Judy.

Some of these movies were actually based on real-life events, which is what makes them interesting to fans of the supernatural.

If you want to know how to watch these episodes the right way, you have two choices. You can pick from the ones listed below:

Release Order

If you start with The Conjuring, the first movie in the series, you can see how deep the franchise’s roots go into the horror genre.

  • The Witching Hour (2013)
  • Annabelle (2014)
  • The Second Haunting (2016)
  • Annabelle: The Beginning (2017)
  • The Sister (2018)
  • La Llorona and Her Curse (2019)
  • Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
  • The Devil Made Me Do It: The Conjuring (2021)
  • This order is based on what Ed and Lorraine Warren have to say about the bad things that have happened to them.

Chronological Order

Think back to 1952, when a nun and a priest found out something very bad.

Who knew that the fight with the evil nun was just the start of more bad things to come?

  • The Sister (2018)
  • Annabelle: The Beginning (2017)
  • Annabelle (2014)
  • The Witching Hour (2013)
  • Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
  • La Llorona and Her Curse (2019)
  • The Second Haunting (2016)
  • The Devil Made Me Do It: The Conjuring (2021).

This order will get you interested enough to watch all of the episodes in one night.

Ultimate Watch Order

Ultimate Watch Order is for the series’ biggest fans, who can’t get enough of getting chills down their spine.

The Conjuring Shorts are part of the Conjuring Universe. They are made up of 5 bonus clips that are each about 2 minutes long.

They were the winning videos from a contest for Annabelle: Creation that was held in 2017.

The Conjuring: The Lover is a 5-part comic book series that takes place before The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

If you’ve ever wondered where the weird occult items in the Warren Museum came from, this book will tell you.

  • The Sister (2018)
  • The Nun Sequel (TBA)
  • Annabelle: The Beginning (2017)
  • The Shorts of the Conjuring
  • Annabelle (2014)
  • The Witching Hour (2013)
  • Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
  • La Llorona and Her Curse (2019)
  • The Swindler (TBA)
  • The Second Haunting (2016)
  • “The Lover” from “The Conjuring” (2021)
  • The Devil Made Me Do It: The Conjuring (2021)

Also, a sequel to The Nun could come out as early as 2019, and work is still being done on “a really fun story.” At the moment, it’s not clear if it will pick up after The Nun or continue where Conjuring 2 left off.

The Crooked Man, a spinoff of Conjuring 2, is in the works, but we don’t know much about the plot yet. The tall, skinny character from a nursery rhyme had made a brief appearance in Conjuring 2.

Conclusion

If you ask me, I will always think of Release Order as a classic. That’s how I saw it the first time I saw it in a theatre. Also, there are only eight entries so far, so it’s almost impossible to get confused.

First, you can join Ed and Lorraine Warren as they try to figure out what’s going on with the Perron family. Then the best arc would be the haunting of the doll by the evil spirit.

And the stories about The Nun and The Weeping Woman, which are demonic beings, are sure to make the jump-scare scenes you’re about to see creepy.

How Much Time Will It Take To Watch

By a rough count, you’d need 14 hours and 29 minutes to see everything in the Conjuring Universe.

All eight movies and five shorts that have come out so far have been taken into account.

Note: These are approximations of how long the programs will run.

About The Conjuring Universe

The Conjuring Universe is an American media franchise and shared universe based on a series of supernatural horror movies made by New Line Cinema, the Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

In the movies, the supposed real-life cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were paranormal investigators and authors who wrote about famous but controversial hauntings, are acted out.

In the main series, the Warrens try to help people who are being controlled by evil spirits. In the spin-off movies, they look at how some of the things they’ve seen came to be.
