How To Watch The Walking Dead Watch Order Guide

Those who enjoy zombie fiction need to go no farther than The Walking Dead franchise; I say this in no way ironically.

The post-apocalyptic environment they’ve crafted not only makes us feel afraid but also sad and helpless.

Variants, one-off web series, and feature films are all a part of this universe. This is not a topic for those who are easily overwhelmed, because there is a lot to unpack.

Despite the numerous prequels, sequels, webisodes, and movies in The Walking Dead franchise, they all stick to a very consistent timeframe.

Most of them can stand on their own, and the only major crossover is between Season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead and Season 8 of The Walking Dead.

Watch FTWD Season 4 after Season 8 of The Walking Dead.

As is customary, I will first specify the order in which movies will be released, followed by the order in which they will be shown. Have no fear.

I will not occupy much of your time and will go right to the point.

Release Order

The original series of The Walking Dead premiered in 2010, and its final episode aired in April of this year.

  • The Walking Dead Webisodes | 2011 – 2013

There will be a second season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, likely the last, airing in October.

In addition to this, a movie spinoff and a television series spinoff have both been announced.

The characters of Rick Grimes, Carol, and Daryl will be examined. We don’t know when or what they’ll be called when they come out.

 Chronological Watch Order

There is a recommended viewing order that is based on the series’ timeline, but each episode can be enjoyed on its own.

Consequently, strict adherence to the watch sequence is optional.

In contrast, Fear The Walking Dead’s first three seasons act as a prologue to the main series.

Carol and Daryl Spin-off Update: Release Date

The Carol and Daryl spin-off that hasn’t been given a name is scheduled to come out in 2023. However, Melissa McBride’s character Carol, who has been a part of the show from its inception, will not be included because of scheduling conflicts.

After the events of “The Walking Dead,” Daryl heads out on the open road in the series, which opens up an almost infinite number of narrative avenues to explore.

Where To Watch The Walking Dead Franchise

On AMC+, subscribers can view the entirety of the Walking Dead series, right up to and including the show’s concluding season.

Fear the Walking Dead is available in its entirety on AMC+, including all of the webisodes, special miniseries, and full seasons.

In addition to this, there is a chat show about The Walking Dead called Talking Dead.

On this show, the show’s creators discuss each episode of the show and provide an exclusive look behind the scenes.

That is available to see without charge on the AMC mobile app.

Run-Time And Binge Duration

There are a total of 333 episodes, and that number includes all 24 episodes that make up the season finale of “The Walking Dead.”

Since the length of each episode is, on average, one hour, it would take you 333 hours to watch all of the episodes in the franchise in one sitting.

You should probably get started soon if you want to be ready to see the season finale when it is shown, so I guess it’s about time you did so.

Conclusion

If you want to get the most out of this franchise, the best way to start is with the main program, which is called The Walking Dead, and then move on to its spin-offs, which include Fear the Walking Dead (Prequel), The Walking Dead Webisodes, and more.

This is due to the fact that, in comparison to the other shows, the primary show does a better job of providing a captivating and interesting introduction to the world of zombies.

In addition, the events that take place in the prequel or in the other series do not truly overlap or connect with the events that take place in the main show or with each other.

Because of this, there won’t be much space for confusion, and the timeframe won’t be as important.

Therefore, go as you choose, but be aware that a slaughterhouse is awaiting your arrival!

About The Walking Dead

The comic book series of the same name published by Robert Kirkman is the inspiration for the AMC television show The Walking Dead, which is a neo-western horror drama.

At this time, it features Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and a number of additional actors.

A sheriff’s deputy named Rick Grimes comes out of a coma to discover that the world has recently emerged from an apocalypse that was caused by zombies.

Soon after, he comes to the realization that the world has been partitioned into a population of zombies known as “walkers” and a group of survivors who are willing to do anything in order to stay alive.

The most recent season, which is season 11, will adapt content from issues #175–193 of the comic book series.

The primary focus of this season is on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, which is a large network of communities that possesses sophisticated equipment and is home to almost fifty thousand survivors living in their various settlements.
