Inspired by the British dating game show of the same name, “Love Island” (or “Love Island USA”) follows a group of strangers as they share a remote villa, try to fall in love, and compete for a $100,000 grand prize.
Everyone’s favorite couple, Josh and Shannon, decided to depart on episode 22 of the current iteration (season 3), which was a huge letdown for both the viewers and the competitors.
Josh was saddened to hear of his sister’s death and needed to be with his loved ones. What follows is, therefore, the sum total of our knowledge on the subject.
How Did Josh Goldstein’s Sister Die?
In the middle of the night, producers woke up Josh Goldstein to break the news that his beloved sister, Lindsey Beth Goldstein, had passed away the night before they were scheduled to begin filming the episode that would run on August 5, 2021.
Josh finally lost it when explaining to his Islanders teammates that he and Shannon were leaving the series together to be with Josh’s family.
He claimed that his sister was the only person responsible for getting him to “Love Island,” where he ultimately met the “love of his life.”
He and his girlfriend Shannon broke the news to their friends and family with a sad “I just want to tell you all that I and Shannon are returning home today.”
I have some sad news to share: my sister died last night. Yeah, I just got word. She was an unbelievable person.
To put it simply, I owe my presence here to her.
The reason I found Shannon and met all you guys.” Josh continued, “I just need to be home with my family right now to support them, and I just want to let you guys know that I’m so grateful to have met all of you. It’s unexpected, but she lived an unbelievable life.”
Lindsey Beth Goldstein lived in Haverhill, Massachusetts, with her parents Marc and Lynn, and younger brother Josh.
She had been planning her wedding for October 2022 when she tragically passed away on August 4.
She would have been 28 years old. Lindsey was not only a devoted fiancée but also a dedicated investigator for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
She had helped countless victims of abuse, violence, and neglect find safety.
As per The Sun, police responded to an alarm call at her residence on that fateful day, but no medical attention was required, implying that she had already passed.
Additionally, her body is currently being held at the coroner’s office pending autopsy and toxicology results, so there is no known cause of death.
The overwhelming number of online memorials to Lindsey is the only evidence we need to conclude that she was greatly loved.
Many of her ‘Love Island’ relatives and friends have taken to Facebook to express their sorrow at her passing.
While one wrote, in part, “Lindsey Beth, the world lost an amazing person.
“My heart and prayers are with the Goldstein Family today,” another wrote.
“Linds knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face, and her contagious positivity and encouragement could move mountains.”
Whenever you went out in Haverhill, you were lucky to run into Lindsey because she was one of the sweetest young people you’d ever meet. I am thinking of you and sending my love on this sad day.
Josh, for his part, is grieving his loss privately for the time being.
