Jaycee Dugard, then 11 years old, was kidnapped by serial sex offender Phillip Craig Garrido and his wife Nancy in 1991.
Their ordeal would be chronicled in the book “Captive for 18 Years: The Jaycee Lee Story.” An extensive quest to find the fifth-grader began almost immediately, but no leads ever came to light despite numerous witnesses.
So Jaycee did not resurface until 2009 when a fresh look into her disappearance led to her rescue along with Phillip’s two daughters, who were both then ages 7 and 9.
So, since this is a new development, let’s learn everything we can about the latter.
Who Are Jaycee Dugard’s Daughters?
Angel was the first of Jaycee Lee Dugard’s daughters to be fathered by her abductor, Phillip Garrido, nearly three years after Dugard was abducted from outside her California home.
Impregnated at the age of 13 with no idea about what labor could be, she began having horrible pains while still locked up in a shed in the Garrido’s backyard.
Jaycee knew there wouldn’t be any doctors because she’d never been released. Only Nancy Garrido, the nurse’s aide, was present to assist with the birth.
Everything turned out fine, and Jaycee felt like she had a companion in her daughter Angel for the first time in her life.

In 1997, at the age of 17, Jaycee gave birth to her second daughter, Starlet. Phillip Garrido had eased up on his victim so that she could homeschool their daughters.
Jaycee essentially raised them as her own, despite having to tell them that Nancy, not she, was their mother.
According to The Telegraph, Angel, 15, and Starlet, 11, did not know the truth until they were freed from their father’s grip in August 2009.
The abduction of their real mother was a secret until that point.
Where Are Jaycee Dugard’s Daughters Now?
Angel and Starlet Dugard were allegedly clinging to their father Phillip Garrido as he was being apprehended in 2009, despite claims that the girls were shy and sheltered around their father and in public.
They cried when they were finally set free because they felt such a deep, meaningful connection to him over the years.
The girls were initially resistant to their new normal lives, but with the help of therapy and their loved ones, they adjusted well.
However, because of their upbringing, the sisters are very protective of their privacy regarding this matter.
Jaycee told ABC Network in 2016 that Angel and Starlet no longer want to see their father.
Still, Jaycee won’t stop them if they ask. She went on to say that she didn’t approve of the action but supported the right of her children to make their own decisions in life.
On the other hand, I couldn’t abide by and watch them do it. She continued, “As long as he’s in jail and they’re safe, then I wouldn’t hinder their ability to make that choice.”
Jaycee said that both of her “resilient” and “loving” daughters were attending university at the time.
Since they typically do not open up to others about their experiences, they must rely on one another as part of their strategy for moving forward.
It is entirely up to them to maintain their anonymity, as only their closest friends and family members are in on the secret.
Jaycee, more than anyone else, understands the value of autonomy; she is giving her daughters plenty of opportunities to develop theirs with only her guiding hand and compassionate guidance in the background.
