A&E’s “Secrets of Playboy” is a documentary series that, as the name suggests, digs deep into the dark side of Hugh Hefner’s huge empire to show what his legacy really is.
So, it uses both old footage from the Playboy Mansion and exclusive interviews with people who were there to show every aspect of this strange world.
But when they talked about Dr. Mark Saginor and how close he was to the bachelor, we were most interested.

Who is Dr. Mark Saginor?
Dr. Mark Saginor seemed to have worked hard to build a good name for himself as an internist and diagnostician in Los Angeles, California.
That’s how he met people and eventually met Hugh Hefner, with whom he had a lot in common because they were both once geeks who made it big.
His daughter Jennifer says that’s why they got along so well. Mark became not only the playboy’s personal doctor but also his best friend and closest confidant.
This is how he came to have a room at the Mansion. Even so, some people think that they were really together for decades.
Sondra Theodore said in the show that Mark became Hef’s best friend. “They really went too far. They went beyond just being best friends.” Jennifer said, “My dad and Hef had a spiritual connection that I don’t think any of these wives or girlfriends could ever beat.
They were together physically… And then that turned into something a little bit more dangerous.” “Over the years, my father really gave up his family life and his practice to be with him,” the young Saginor said. I personally think that Hef’s true love was my father.
Where is Dr. Mark Saginor Now?
Hugh Hefner’s life was saved in the mid-1980s by Dr. Mark Saginor, who was also known as “Dr. Feelgood” because he was said to be willing to give drugs to people at the Playboy Mansion.
But in 2004, almost 20 years after that incident, things between the two changed, at least in the eyes of the public, because of several accusations of wrongdoing against the diagnostician.
In 2008, when Mark’s license was taken away for five years, the California Medical Board said that he had “committed acts of sexual misconduct and sexual exploitation of a patient, possessed and used illegal drugs, and made repeated mistakes.
” It also said that he “failed to keep adequate and correct medical records while caring for and treating a patient.”
So, according to Jennifer in the A&E show, Mark and Hugh broke up in public but kept their relationship going behind closed doors.
“[Hef] always wanted to be one step removed from every situation so that nothing would ever directly reflect badly on him,” she said, adding that even though her father felt like “the fall guy,” they still talked on the phone.
So, it wasn’t a big surprise when, in the 2010s, the friends started getting together again in person.
In fact, Mark was with Hugh when he died at home in September 2017 at the age of 91.
Since the doctor’s assault charges were eventually dropped, no legal action was taken against him, and it looks like he still lives in California, out of sight of the public.
