Who is Matthew Muller and Where is He Now?

ABC’s “20/20: Gone Girl” examines the home invasion and kidnapping cases that involved Aaron Quinn and Denise Huskins, who was transformed from suspects to victims in just a few days.

Due to their narratives of what transpired appearing to be too extreme and bearing an eerie resemblance to the novel or film “Gone Girl,” the authorities deemed the incident to be an orchestrated incident initially.

But the evidence soon proved that Matthew Muller was their perpetrator. Let’s now discover everything we can about him, including his current location. Will we?

 Who is Matthew Muller?

Contrary to the norm, Matthew Daniel Muller served in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999. He graduated from the summa laude program at Pomona College in California before ultimately attending Harvard Law School.

As a decorated former officer with credentials that demonstrated his capabilities, Matthew was able to secure a job that was stable as an immigration attorney in a San Francisco law firm.

However, in 2015, after the filing of bankruptcy as well as being accused of omitting to reimburse around $1250 to a client, when the court ordered it due to his inability to provide competent representation, he was barred for good reason.

This was the year Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn’s abduction and property invasion cases were resolved. It was only June 5, just three months later when the incident occurred, when Matthew tried to break into a house in California the day he was recognized as a suspect.

The sequence of events was identical. The only distinction was that the victims were able to successfully confront their attackers and get them to flee before any damage could be done.

The authorities lost Matthew’s phone while attempting to escape, and the authorities were able to direct the phone directly to him, which led to a huge victory for the authorities.

After a deeper look into the case, it became apparent that despite not having been charged or detained and never having been charged, he was a suspect in several other burglaries and home invasion instances in cities across California. Some of them were way back in 2009 and included specific information.

Furthermore, a thorough look-up of his home revealed a number of Squirt guns that had laser pointed devices taped to them, as well as blacked-out swimming glasses, as well as video evidence that proved Matthew had been Denise and Aaron’s perpetrator. Matthew’s intention is to Aaron and his ex-fiancee, but it’s not a matter of fact due to his actions.

 Where is Matthew Muller Now?

Matthew Muller was arrested in South Lake Tahoe on June 8, 2015, and was charged with kidnapping and ransom in federal court. The other related criminal charges of sexual assault as well as the murder of Aaron were not imposed on him because the federal court does not have authority over the matter.

In the year 2016, Matthew pleaded guilty to the charge on his behalf and was then sent to prison for 40 years of imprisonment. Since then, he’s been charged with state crimes, which comprise two charges of forceful sexual rape, theft and robbery, and a false conviction from Solano County.

Matthew has been convicted of the second charge, and in November of 2020, after a series of preliminaries, it was determined that Matthew was mentally incapable of being tried.

So, as of today, at the age of 44, he’s an inmate in a Solano County Jail competency-treatment program under the supervision of MHM Services, a mental and behavioral health specialist firm that has contracts with government agencies.

Once, Matthew is judged competent by professionals and is scheduled for further court hearings. All accusations against him are derived from his involvement in the Denise Aaron and Denise Aaron cases.
