Based on real events, “The Serpent” is a crime drama show about the search for Charles Sobhraj, who was one of Asia’s most wanted criminals just a few decades ago.
In the mid-1970s, the French thief, con artist, and murderer would make friends with young travelers on the Hippie Trail in Southeast Asia, give them drugs, and then kill them.
Even though he had been arrested before, he wasn’t really caught until 2003.

Who is Charles Sobhraj’s Wife?
Years after Charles Sobhraj and his first wife, Chantal Compagnon (who became Juliette Voclain on the show), broke up, he met Nihita Biswas, a Nepalese woman.
In 2008, Charles was already in prison, but Nihita walked in after a mutual friend told her that Charles’s lawyer needed an interpreter.
Even though the lawyer had already left when Charles, who was 20 at the time, arrived, he fell in love with her at first sight.
Nihita told the Times of India in an interview that he then started looking for ways to spend time with her.
“[Charles] made it look like he had another job for me,” Nihita said. “He gave me a long list of things to buy. Most of the food was from a can.
” So, their love story began. Even though they were always around correctional officers and couldn’t be alone together, the couple built a strong relationship. So, they got engaged for three months.
Charles is 44 years older than Nihita, but she said it was easy to talk to him.
She told her that all she has to do to know what he really means is look into his eyes and read his lips.
In October 2008, the two of them got married in Central Jail.
Still, we should mention that Nepalese officials have since said that the two people didn’t get married and that the party in jail was just a celebration for a local holiday.
Still, the two are said to be together to this day.
Where is Nihita Biswas Now?
When Charles and Nihita got engaged, he said he would take her to Paris, France, and buy them the most expensive engagement and wedding rings as soon as he got out of jail.
That hasn’t happened yet, so that’s clear. But Nihita doesn’t seem to have given up hope that one day her husband will be freed, especially since her mother, Shakuntala Thapa, is also his lawyer.
Nihita once said, “I don’t know what he was.” “What he is doing now matters.
I know he’s a good man because I’ve seen how he takes care of his family. We’re getting along well.”
She also said that she believes he is innocent because there is no proof against him.
Nihita stays out of the spotlight most of the time, but in 2011, she went on “Bigg Boss,” India’s version of “Big Brother,” and said that she was proud to be married to Charles Sobhraj.
She was the first person to be voted off the show. Charles’s wife and mother-in-law both agree that he is well-known, but only for his ability to get out of prison.
They say that he has never killed anyone. From what we can tell, Nihita lives in Lalitpur, Nepal, at the moment.
