In light of the numerous tales (and myths) about treasures buried in the ground and mysterious objects that have been discovered at or close to Oak Island in Nova Scotia, The History Network decided to highlight the adventures of a treasure hunter.
“The Curse of Oak Island,” tells the storey of Rick Lagina, one of the world’s most famous treasure seekers. Since 2006, he’s been dedicating every single day to the world’s longest-running and highest-priced treasure hunt.
Rick Lagina became an international celebrity as a result of his efforts. Through the years, the highly-skilled seeker of treasure has managed to gain a large following for himself.
He has been unravelling the mysteries for many years, and we were intrigued to find out more about his life as a person, and here’s everything we discovered!
Who Is Rick Lagina?
Rick is a retired U.S. postal worker from Northern Michigan who has dreamed of solving the Oak Island mystery since he first read about it in the January 1965 issue of Reader’s Digest at the age of 11.
Rick is the kind of guy who sees the world in black and white; honor is everything, and when you believe in something, you never give up. As he puts it: “Once in, forever in!”
His faith that someone went to great efforts to hide something of incredible value centuries ago on Oak Island has only been strengthened by the many incredible clues he, his brother, Marty, and their team have discovered since they took over the treasure hunt in 2006.
Rick Lagina’s Early Life
Rick Lagina was born on August 26th, 1955 in Kingsford, Michigan, where Rick Lagina spent his childhood along with his two sisters, Terese Fornetti and Marianne Gardner, and one brother, Marty Lagina, who is co-presenter of the show “The Curse of Oak Island.”
Before he took on the exciting job of a treasure hunter, Rick was just a normal postal employee. However, from an early age, the celebrity was fascinated by the thought of finding valuable treasures and historical artefacts on Oak Island.
After reading an edition of Reader’s Digest from January 1965, the seed was sown in his mind. The article provided a detailed explanation of the obscure theories about the famous Money Pit, Captain Kidd’s booty, Marie Antoinette’s lost treasures, and Shakespeare’s writings.
Then, Rick and Marty began digging through their town to seek some Native American relics, and the rest, according to the legend, is the story of history!
Is Rick Lagina Married?
Rick Lagina might have lived in the limelight for nearly 10 years, but that doesn’t alter the fact that he’s been a very private person. It has been widely reported that his brother, Marty Lagina, is married to Olivia, who has two children, Alex and Maddie.
But, this can’t be said of Rick. It’s “unknown” whether the 69-year-old has ever been married or had a relationship with any person at any time in his life.
A man who values honour more than anything else is unlikely to share the painful aspects of his past relationships, even if there were any. In addressing the title-tattle of his sexual orientation, there is no official statement that claims the actor is part of the LGBTQ+ community.
At the moment, Rick is basking in the satisfaction of being a TV actor while keeping his main attention on his mission to find out the truth about Oak Island.
