Why Is Daniel Radcliffe Not The New Wolverine?

While we’re busy looking for the next Wolverine in every available actor, Daniel Radcliffe has flatly refuted any prospect that he could be the new Wolverine.

Let me back up for some background, okay?

Radcliffe had previously joked in an interview that he would be Wolverine “if Wolverine had been shrunk in the hot wash” (his words, not mine). Dan was only joking, but we made a huge deal out of it.

There were soon strong discussions on the internet concerning Dan’s casting as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Dan, despite the amusement, was determined to set the record straight about the rumors. Dan clarified in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK that the remark about him being Wolverine was a joke.

Dan continued by detailing the reasons why, despite being a lifelong lover of the character, he would never want to play Wolverine.

1. Why Is Daniel Radcliffe Not The New Wolverine?

It’s official: Daniel doesn’t want the movie redone, period, let alone with him in it, thus he has no interest in playing Wolverine.

He also continues reminding everyone that neither has he been cast as Wolverine nor is he likely to audition for the part.

To be fair, Daniel has every right to be perplexed by the prospect of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine being replaced.

You could as well suggest that you could step in for Chadwick Boseman in the role of Black Panther.

And don’t think for a second that we won’t throw a tantrum or cry a little bit.

1.1 Is Charlie Hunnam The New Wolverine?

When it comes to Wolverine, Charlie Hunnam is not the man to replace Hugh Jackman.

Any speculation about Charlie Hunnam making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Wolverine is, at this point, little more than that.

To date, there has been no confirmation that the X-Men will be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite the fact that it is very impressive, the fan edit is just that: a fan edit.

1.2 Is Tom Hardy The New Wolverine?

Hugh Jackman has given Tom Hardy the thumbs up, but he will not be taking over the role of Wolverine.

It’s unlikely that Tom will be cast in another role in Marvel to avoid confusion with his portrayal of Eddie Brock in Sony and Marvel’s Venom, which already has a much-anticipated sequel in the works.

Tom would have been a fantastic Wolverine, so that’s a bummer.

Unfortunately, though, he also happens to be the ideal Eddie Brock.

2. Who Will Be The New Wolverine?

According to Kevin Feige, Wolverine has not been cast as of yet. However, he did say that the X-Men in the MCU has been on his mind, even if casting has not yet begun.

In the wake of Hugh Jackman’s unprecedented popularity, a recast is unlikely until much later.

In all candor, this is a brilliant plan. Given how invested we are in Jackman’s interpretation of the role, it’s unlikely that a different actor could do Logan justice.

It appears that Phase 4 is already at capacity (scheduled to run till 2022 and maybe even beyond).

So it seems like we’ll have to wait a while before seeing any mutants in the MCU.

3. About Wolverine

Wolverine, or Logan as he is more well known, is a well-liked mutant character in the X-Men series.

Wolverine, well renowned for his trademark retractable claws, has already made an appearance in 10 of the 13 X-Men films and will shortly make his MCU debut.

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine/Logan), Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, and Ian McKellen are among the many notable actors who have appeared in the Wolverine film series.

Logan (Wolverine) is a mutant with an adamantium skeleton and healing skills who is the protagonist of this story.

Logan will eventually cross paths with Professor X and reluctantly become a member of the X-Men.
